Ac­cused of mur­der­ing miss­ing man

A MAN has ap­peared in court ac­cused of the mur­der of Mo­hamed Megherbi, who was last seen in Cardiff more than six weeks ago.

Kane Burns, 26, from Penn­syl­va­nia in Llanedeyrn, Cardiff, was yes­ter­day morn­ing brought into the dock at Cardiff Mag­is­trates’ Court by two of­fi­cers for the brief hear­ing.

Pros­e­cu­tor Louise Clis­sold said: “This case re­lates to the miss­ing per­son Mo­hamed Megherbi.”

The clerk read out the charge, which ac­cuses Burns of mur­der­ing Mr Megherbi on Oc­to­ber 10.

Burns, dressed in a grey track­suit, con­firmed his name, date of birth and ad­dress. His case was sent to the crown court.

He was rep­re­sented by An­drew Shana­han dur­ing the hear­ing, which lasted for about five min­utes.

Chair of the bench Wendy Ash­ton said: “This case must be sent to the crown court. It can­not be dealt with here.”

The de­fen­dant was re­manded in cus­tody un­til his next hear­ing at Merthyr Tyd­fil Crown Court to­mor­row.
