JOANNE JONES Pregnant Jones may give birth in prison after being jailed for supplying heroin to an undercover police officer. Jones, 29, of Merlin Crescent in Cefn Glas, Bridgend, admitted two counts of supplying the Class A drug.

The defendant was caught as part of Operation Avalanche, targeting the supply of Class A drugs in Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan. ALEX BARNES The school IT technician groomed a 15-year-old pupil to engage in a violent sexual relationsh­ip which saw him abuse her on school grounds.

The 22-year-old, of The Green Avenue, Porthcawl, would slap the teenager and sexually abused her in a classroom and toilet at the school, Newport Crown Court heard.

Barnes admitted six counts of sexual activity with a child and three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonme­nt, ordered to sign the sex offenders’ register and made subject to a sexual harm prevention order for life. He was also barred from working with children. GEMMA JANES Janes took two knives and a Samurai sword to a playing field.

Janes – previously convicted of a New Year’s Day knife attack against members of her own family – was found with the weapons outside Rhos community hall, Pontardawe.

The 27-year-old was suffering a drug-induced psychotic episode when police found her with a kitchen knife, Stanley knife and 10in Samurai sword. Janes, of March Hywel, Pontardawe, admitted three counts of possessing an offensive weapon and two of possessing a Class B drug.

The judge at Swansea Crown Court activated eight months of a sus- pended sentence and imposed a total of eight months for the new offences to run consecutiv­ely, making a total of 16 months in prison. BILAL HAMZI The failed asylum seeker who mugged a woman on the street will be deported once he is out of prison.

He followed his victim through the centre of Swansea as she made her way home at midnight and jumped her just yards from the city’s main police station. Hamzi, 20, of Nelson Street, Swansea, pleaded guilty to robbery. He was jailed for three years. BRIAN WARD Brian Ward is back behind bars after being on the run for five years.

The paedophile was caught hiding behind a false wall in a flat in Cardiff Bay. He had fled during his trial at Newport Crown Court in November 2013, which went on to find him guilty in his absence of gross indecency with a child under 16 and four counts of indecent assault on a female. Ward, 60, was sentenced to five years and 20 weeks in prison. JOHN DELANEY AND JOHN JAMES PURCELL Delaney and Purcell were jailed after taking underage girls from a care home, giving them alcohol and raping them. Purcell, 31, from Ellesmere Port, and 33-year-old Delaney, from Wrexham, were each sentenced to 14 years at Mold Crown Court.

Delaney was found guilty of three sex traffickin­g offences, two counts of rape and a sexual assault. Purcell was found guilty of four sex traffickin­g charges and two counts of rape RYAN THOMAS Ryan Thomas followed a female student home from her part-time bar job and exposed himself to her in The Hayes, Cardiff, before going on the run to Ireland. The mortgage broker, 26, committed the offences after being deported from Australia back to the UK six months before for sexual assault and indecent exposure.

Thomas, from George Street in Cwmcarn, admitted exposure, failing to surrender to custody, and failing to comply with the sex offender notificati­on requiremen­ts.

He was jailed for three years and two months and must register as a sex offender for the next 10 years. VINCENT SLATER A former taxi driver “with a lust for children” sexually abused and assaulted three youngsters over the course of a number of years.

Vincent Peter Patrick Slater abused his victims – a boy and two girls – after grooming them with gifts of money and cigarettes. The 57-yearold then threatened them into keeping quiet.

Slater, of Gomer Road, Townhill, Swansea, had previously admitted 20 counts of sexually assaulting a child under 13, rape of a child under 13, inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. He received a 25-year extended sentence comprising 18 years in custody with a seven-year licence period. DRUGS GANG A 26-member drugs gang will serve a combined 173 years behind bars after the police busted a multi- million-pound operation. Two women and 24 men formed part of the organised crime gang who worked across the coastal strip of North Wales. The gang included people from Manchester, Liverpool, Rhyl, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno and Holyhead. JOHN FARTHING A customer thrown out of the Peppermint bar in Wind Street, Swansea, took his “revenge” by returning in the early hours and smashing a dozen of its windows – just days after being given a suspended jail sentence.

John Farthing pulled a jacket up over his head in an attempt to hide his identity but his 10-minute-long rampage was captured on CCTV.

Farthing, of Castle Quarter, The Strand, Swansea, admitted criminal damage. He was jailed for 30 weeks. SAED SAEED AND FOUAD CILMI A drug dealer was Tasered as he tried to run away from police, who found more than £7,000 worth of Class A drugs in the car he was driving.

Saed Saeed and Fouad Cilmi were caught supplying heroin and cocaine in Beddau, near Pontypridd, as part of a County Lines operation.

Saeed and Cilmi, both 29, each admitted possessing heroin and cocaine with intent to supply. Saeed was jailed for three years and Cilmi for four years and six months. NATHAN PLEACE A Cardiff City fan who was involved in a brawl with Aston Villa supporters outside a pub has been jailed.

Nathan Pleace was one of three Bluebirds supporters involved in the punch-up with 10 Aston Villa fans outside the Cornwall pub in Grangetown on August 12 last year.

Pleace, 33, of Andrews Road in Llandaff North, had denied a single charge of violent disorder but was convicted and given a custodial sentence of two years and nine months. ABDULLAH RASUL A drunk club-goer got behind the wheel of a car and hit two pedestrian­s who were crossing the road, leaving them motionless on the ground.

Abdullah Rasul squeezed five passengers into the Ford Ka he was driving and did not stop to de-mist the windscreen, which was completely obscured, before speeding through Bridgend town centre. Rasul, from Beverley Street in Port Talbot, was sent to a young offender institutio­n for two years and eight months and disqualifi­ed from driving for two years from the time of his release. He admitted drink-driving and causing serious injury by driving dangerousl­y.
