CYMRU ALLIANCE

-

AIRBUS UK Broughton’s 100 per cent winning record in the Huws Gray Alliance was halted yesterday as they went down 1-0 at Flint Town United.

Mark Cadwallader’s 10th minute goal ultimately proved decisive and sent the Wingmakers crashing to their first defeat of the league campaign, ending a run of 14 straight victories from the start of the season.

That defeat for Airbus allowed Porthmadog to close the gap to 10 points after they won 2-0 at Llanrhaeadr. Both Porthmadog goals came in the second half. Josh Banks put them in front three minutes after the re-start before Shaun Cavanagh made sure on 72 minutes.

Flint, in third, are now 12 points back on Airbus with a game in hand.

Elsewhere, Alex Darlington helped himself to four goals as Bangor City won 5-2 against struggling Holywell Town at Nantporth.

Robbie Parry got the other Bangor goal with Steve Lewis and Matt Harvey on the scoresheet for visitors Holywell.

Bangor are fourth, 14 points behind Airbus with a game in hand with Holywell second from bottom.

Basement boys Holyhead Hotspur had their scheduled home game with Ruthin Town postponed.

Elsewhere second half efforts from Ben Nash and Kristian Pierce – from the spot – earned Rhyl a 2-0 win at Denbigh Town.

Jack Chaloner netted in each half, including one from the spot, as Gresford Athletic won 2-1 at Conwy Borough – for whom Conor Harwood scored.

Jack Roberts’ last-gasp winner bagged the points for Buckley Town as they won 1-0 at Penrhyncoch, while Prestatyn Town were 4-0 winners against Guilsfield.

Ian Griffiths was at the double with Ben Maher and Alec Williams also netting.
