CONNAH’S Quay Nomads remain a point clear at the top of the JD Welsh Premier League after a 2-1 win at Cefn Druids.

All three goals were scored within the first 15 minutes of the second half.

The Nomads’ Michael Bakare opened the scoring on 48 minutes with a 25-yard strike, only for Dean Rittenburg to level for the home side seven minutes later.

But Callum Morris’ penalty a minute before the hour mark ensured Andy Morrison’s side stay top ahead of Barry Town United, who came from behind to win 3-2 at Carmarthen Town.

Liam Thomas put the Old Gold in front on 48 minutes but Jonathan Hood responded four minutes later with a long-range effort.

Chris Hugh then put the Linnets in front, with Kayne McLaggon scoring from the penalty spot four minutes from time to secure all three points. Luke Cooper’s injury time own goal gave Carmarthen a late consolation.

Elsewhere, champions The New Saints are now five points off the summit after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bala at Maes Tegid.

Blaine Hudson put TNS ahead on 11 minutes although they were reduced to 10 men on 33 when Chris Marriott was shown a straight red for a foul on Henry Jones. Jones was the provider for the Lakesiders’ equaliser on 66 minutes, crossing for Steven Tames.

Meanwhile, Caernarfon Town and Cardiff Met both enjoyed 4-0 home victories over Aberystwyth and Llanelli Town respectively.

Nathan Craig netted from the spot in each half for Caernarfon with Sion Bradley and Darren Thomas the Cofis’ other scorers.

Aberystwyth had Declan Walker sent off for a second yellow just before the break.

For Cardiff Met, Kyle McCarthy, Adam Roscrow, Sam Snaith and Eliot Evans all scored.
