NEW Pontypridd Town boss Lee Kendall got his reign off to the perfect start as they thrashed Ammanford 5-0 at Leckwith Stadium to move off the bottom of Nathaniel Cars Welsh League Division One.

Luke Gullick’s hat-trick inspired the win – and took him past 100 goals for the club in the process – while Kareem Leigh was at the double.

It ended Pontypridd’s six-game winless run and was their first league triumph in 2019.

Ton Pentre now prop up the rest of the division after going down 2-0 at home against relegation rivals Taffs Well – who moved out of the bottom three as a result.

Gwent side Goytre are second from bottom after a 1-1 draw at home with Port Talbot Town – another side who are down there scrapping for points.

Morgan Thomas put the Steelmen ahead on 49 minutes but they were denied all three points with the hosts levelling from the spot 20 minutes from time.

At the other end of the table, Penybont’s march towards the title continued with a 2-1 win over Undy Athletic at Bryntirion.

Bont are five points clear of Cambrian & Clydach but do have two games in hand.

Goals in each half from Liam Edwards and Kyle Jones earned Nathaniel MG Cup finalists Cambrian a 2-0 home win over Cwmbran Celtic.

Cambrian have now taken 32 points from a possible 36 since they lost 5-3 at Penybont in late September.

Haverfordwest County, who won 2-0 at home against Goytre United yesterday thanks to goals from Elliot Scotcher and Sean Pemberton, are eight points back on Penybont – who won the big top-of-the-table clash between the sides 3-0 in midweek.
