JD CYMRU SOUTH

-

BRITON Ferry Llansawel are top of the table at Christmas in JD Cymru South.

That is after they thumped Llanelli Town 4-1 at Old Road to go a point above Haverfordwest County – who surrendered top spot after a waterlogged pitch forced the postponement of their game at Goytre United.

Llanelli had taken a first minute lead through Tim Parker but Ferry hit back through Mark Jones and Luke Harries to get their noses in front at the break.

Stephen Davey gave them a two-goal cushion from the penalty spot on 68 minutes before Jones rounded off the win on 78.

Ferry lead on goal difference from Swansea University, who got the better of Ammanford 3-2 at Sketty Lane.

Arion Sobers-Assue opened the scoring on 12 minutes for the students but they found themselves trailing 2-1 at the break thanks to a Tristan Jenkins double. Sobers-Assue levelled matters on the hour and the game was settled when the university side were awarded a penalty which Oliver Roberts converted on 79 minutes.

Swansea University host Briton Ferry next Saturday, while before that Haverfordwest will have the chance to return to the summit when they welcome Llanelli to New Bridge Meadow on Friday.

Those were the only two games that managed to beat the weather in JD Cymru South yesterday – while the entire programme in Nathaniel Cars Welsh League Division One was wiped out.

Two games went ahead in Welsh League Division Two, which is now led by Trethomas Bluebirds after they crushed Pontyclun 6-0.

There was also a big home win for Abertillery Bluebirds who eased past Albion Rovers 5-0.

Luke Lewis and Owen Goodenough were both at the double with Charlie Davies also on target.
