Records that put Wales in spotlight

-

HOW many sticky notes can you stick on your face in 30 seconds? How fast can you put on 10 T-shirts? How quickly can you move a cream-filled biscuit from your forehead to your mouth? How many tea bags can you throw into a cup?

These are the challenges going out to the people of Wales as the country once again celebrates St David’s Day with a partnership of S4C and the Orchard Media and Events Group setting up a number of uniquely Welsh Guinness World Records.

Last year millions of people across the world witnessed through social media the unique talents that Wales has to offer, with seven recordbreaking feats across the length and breadth of Wales recognised by Guinness World Records Adjudicators as “Officially Amazing”.

One saw Welsh clog dancer Tudur Phillips set the record for most candles extinguished by jump heel clicks in one minute, snuffing out 55. Extinguishing a candle using fancy footwork is a move used in traditional Welsh clog dancing.

The record-breaking achievements last year took Wales and the Welsh language around the world to more than 11 million people through TikTok, Instagram and a variety of social platforms.

This year, the challenge is back, with a number of record attempts in the build-up to March 1, and a new initiative this year, inviting attempts at the following records to secure immortality, feature in an S4C special, be shared by millions of social media users, and book a place in the Guinness World Records 2022 edition.

Now the people of Wales have their chance to create a new Guinness World Record. These are the records up for grabs:

Most sticky notes stuck on the face in 30 seconds (current record 38)

Fastest time to put on 10 T-shirts

Fastest time to move a cream-filled biscuit from the forehead to the mouth

Most tea bags thrown backwards into a mug in 30 seconds

Guinness World Records began with a single book published from a room above a gym in 1955, and has grown to become a global brand.
