ANOTHER 22 people have died in Wales with coronavirus, Public Health Wales confirmed yesterday.
The latest figures show that
400 new cases of Covid-19 were confirmed in the past 24 hours – down from 608 on Friday – bringing the total in Wales since the outbreak of the pandemic to 198,761.
The number of people in Wales to have died with coronavirus within a month of a positive test now stands at 5,106.
The infection rate across Wales is currently 98.7 per 100,000 population based on the seven days up to February 8, a decrease from 102.3 on Friday. The current rate is the lowest it has been since September.
The latest data also shows that 749,445 have now received a first dose of the coronavirus vaccine, up from 715,944 published 24 hours earlier. Meanwhile, 4,224 have now received both doses of the vaccine.
Wrexham remains the local authority with the highest infection rate in Wales with a seven-day rate of 186.1 cases per 100,000 population, down from 199.3 on Friday.
Flintshire is in second with a seven-day rate of 161.4 cases per 100,000 population, which is down from 172.3 when compared with the day before.
Anglesey remains the thirdhighest rate with 144.2 cases per 100,000, down from 164.2 on the previous day.
Across Wales the positivity rate of tests is down to 8.5% for the past seven-day period which is below a key Welsh Government threshold for easing lockdown restrictions. The highest rate is in Flintshire where 12.8.% of tests have come back positive in the last week.
