ODE TO JOY

★★★ ★★

HE’S tackled many roles in the years since, but for many, Martin Freeman will always be Tim from The Office.

It’s how we first got to know him on-screen, playing a lovelorn chap pining for co-worker Dawn.

If you fell for his charms back then, you’re sure to enjoy this romantic comedy in which he plays Charlie, a fortysomething Brooklyn librarian.

He suffers from cataplexy, which makes him faint whenever he experiences a strong emotion, from fear and anger to, as the title suggests, joy.

He’s been unwilling to allow himself to fall in love because of it, believing it would be unfair to make a prospective wife deal with the issue, so when Cupid’s arrow strikes, he tries to set up Francesca (Monica Baccarin), the object of his affections, with his brother Cooper (Jake Lacy). Needless to say, it doesn’t go as planned.
