A RIGHT ROYAL MAKEOVER
DISCOVER the story of King Charles II and the Royal Oak at newly re-launched Boscobel House in Shropshire.
The English Heritage property was where the future Merry Monarch took refuge after the Battle of Worcester in 1651, which ended the English Civil War.
Highlights include recreated 17th-century gardens, replanting of the woodland around the fabled oak, the introduction of rare and local breed animals to the farmyard and barns, a new hide and seek play area, and a fresh interpretation of the story of the house.
Entrance costs £11 adult/£6.60 child/£28.60 family. english-heritage.org.uk
