Jan’s the man as it’s all well for Taffs Well

-

TWO goals from Jan Maertins earned Taffs Well their first win of the season and sent Ammanford tumbling to their first defeat in the South Section of the JD Cymru Leagues, writes Rob Cole.

Marcus Jones gave the visitors the lead in the seventh minute and the Maertins struck twice. It meant that when Jamie Owen added another in the 58th minute the home side were reeling at 4-0.

Lee Trundle then got one back with 15 to go before Tristan Jenkins at least halved the deficit with a second two minutes from time.

It was Taffs Well’s first win of the season, while defeat leaves Ammanford three points behind the only side left with a 100 per cent record, Goytre United.

They had an 88th minute header from Sean Cronin to thank for their 2-1 home win over an Undy Athletic side that had led with a 36th minute goal. Calum Bateman levelled on the hour mark before Cronin ensured his side topped the table after three rounds.

Briton Ferry Llansawel had two hat-trick stars in their 7-0 hammering of Port Talbot. Liam Bowen scored the first and third goals as the visitors raced into a three goal lead inside 15 minutes. Bowen went on to complete his hat-trick in the second half and Tyler Brock as did Tyler Brock.

It ended 3-3 at Cambrian & Clydach Vale where Llantwit Major pushed the unbeaten hoe side all the way, while Aiden Lewis struck twice to earn Pontypridd Town an excellent 2-2 draw at Trefelyn BGC.

In the North, Bangor City knocked Airbus UK Broughton off the top of the table as they took their 100 per cent record with an emphatic 4-1 win that included a hat-trick from their Argentinean forward Dante Isla Cacciavillani.

Steff Gittins also helped himself to a hat-trick as Penrhyncoch won 5-1 at Llangefni Town, while Connor Bird struck twice to earn Llanidloes their first win of the season as they triumphed 3-1 at Conwy Borough.

Colwyn Bay and Ruthin Town and Guilsford and Holyhead Hotspur both played out goalless draws, while two goals from Shaun Cavanagh earned Llandudno a 3-1 success at Llanrhyaedr.
