CELEBS’ HOBBIT HOLIDAY HAVEN

- KATIE BELLIS Reporter katie.bellis@walesonline.co.uk

SINCE becoming a hit with celebrities, they’re the hobbit homes for rent that even Bilbo Baggins would struggle to find a booking for anytime soon. With UK holidays very much on this rise as a result of travel restrictions, rental properties have become particularly sought-after this year.

And nowhere is this more true than for some of the quirkiest vacation spots the nation can offer – such as The Hobbit House in Rhayader.

And thanks to a bit of added star appeal, some of them are now more or less full booked for the next 18 months.

The company behind The Hobbit House, Holidays Wales, are just about to open their 5th Hobbit House, Rabbits View, which is nestled in the hillside.

Last year singer and TV personality Stacey Solomon and her partner, presenter and former EastEnders star Joe Swash, headed to Mid Wales in their camper van.

They stayed in a “hobbit hole” glamping pod to celebrate Stacey’s 31st birthday. The Loose Women panellist uploaded a series of pictures and video clips of her stay on her Instagram.

Talking about her stay in October 2020, Stacey wrote: “It was truly magical, and the people who run them were so kind and friendly. Always there to answer any questions and even help us with places to go, food and updates on govt rules.

“These little hobbit holes are @holidayswales – not gifted or an ad in any way shape or form... I honestly believe sharing people’s business when they’re exceptional is what they deserve.

“If you ever find yourself in this part of the world you have to visit the waterfalls... in Radnor Forest. It was so so beautiful.”

Since the couple visited with their children last year, Holidays Wales said Stacey played a part in everyone wanting to stay in one.

A spokeswoman for Holidays Wales said: “At the moment four of them are pretty much fully booked to the end of 2022.

“We are yet to release the 2023 calendars, but already have loads of people asking us to.

“I think they are popular because they are unique and there is nothing like them around, we do think it is important to have high quality luxurious interiors, which make them very inviting.

“We originally had Stacey Solomon stay in one and this has also played a big part in everyone wanting to stay in one because she did.”

The new Hobbit House, Rabbits View, sleeps up to six guests between three bedrooms. The master bedroom also boasts a unique free standing bath overlooking the rolling hills of Mid Wales.

Its owners say an open-plan living area means even if you are relaxing on the quirky emerald green sofa you can still admire the pink kitchen. There is also an outdoor seating area with a fire pit, perfect for toasting marshmallows under the glorious evening sky.
