CAMBRIAN & Clydach Vale proved they are going to be a major threat in the JD Cymru South league this season as they returned to winning ways with a 2-0 win at Swansea University.

The win on Friday night was good enough to take them back to the top of the table before the rest of the games over the weekend. The home side conceded an own goal in the seventh minute and the triumph was sewn up by Dai Thomas with a second in the 58th minute.

Llanelli Town’s second win of the season came courtesy of goals from two of their teenage talents, Sam Parsons and Halis Esen. It was the 19-year-old Parsons who sparked some life into a lacklustre local derby with a magnificent left footed strike from 25 yards.

He broke the deadlock at Stebonheath against arch-rivals Carmarthen Town in the 79th minute and the home side’s victory was rounded off with a second goal two minutes into added time from the 16-year-old Esen calmly found the back of the net after a terrific strike from a free kick by skipper Kyle Copp was pushed back to him by the goalkeeper.

It has been a terrible start to the season for Carmarthen, who had three points deducted for failing to fulfil their game against Risca United. They remain rock bottom on minus one points.

Mark Jones grabbed a hat-trick as Briton Ferry Llansawel hammered home six goals against Cwmbran Celtic.

In the North, Guilsfield extended their unbeaten run to six games to stay on top of the pile as they won 2-0 at Gresford Athletic. Chris Cathrall got the show on the road with a goal in the first half and then Rob James made things safe with a second strike. Bangor City stayed in touch with the top with a 3-1 win over lowly Holyhead.
