Mugshot attracts admirers

-

“She was aware I was there but she was kind of freaked out that she couldn’t see me.

“It lasted about 30 seconds, no longer than a minute.”

Again Megan seemed to quickly return to normality, but this time the experts were able to identify the underlying issue.

An MRI scan on New Year’s Day 2021 showed she had a brain tumour.

Megan was diagnosed with a grade one-to-two glioma which could not be removed with surgery because of its position.

Instead she was put on an 85-week chemotherapy treatment: “The tumour won’t shrink, it won’t go away, but the hope is that it will ‘switch off’,” said Rhys. “It will still be there but it won’t be growing. They’ll monitor it for at least 10 years.

“Hopefully the chemotherapy will finish in August.”

Rhys will dress as Megan’s favourite teddy, Muppets character Elmo, when he runs Cardiff Half Marathon on March 27 to fundraise for children’s cancer charity Latch. He said the charity has given “immeasurable” support during Megan’s visits to Noah’s Ask.

“Meg has always loved her Elmo teddy and never goes anywhere without him,” he added. “Elmo has accompanied her on every hospital stay and he’s been with her for every chemotherapy session.”

Rhys, who will run alongside his brother Gareth, has so far raised £3,300 for Latch. You can donate at https://www. gofundme.com/f/elmo-anduncle-gorilla-run-CardiffHalf.

A POLICE appeal to find a man didn’t go as planned – after his mugshot attracted thousands of comments from smitten women.

Gwent Police posted a photo of Michael Tuft, 36, who they want to speak to about an altercation near the city centre.

But less than 24 hours after sharing the appeal on their Facebook page, the post was flooded by comments from an army of female admirers who said they were all looking for him too.

Tuft is wanted by police in connection with an altercation which happened at Prince Street, Newport, on Sunday, February 19.

The police appeal read: “We’re appealing for information to find Michael Tuft, 36, from Newport.

“Anyone with any information on his whereabouts can call us on 101 quoting 2200057716, or you can DM us on Facebook or Twitter”

But it seems as though police will have a tough time locating him, with thousands of women joking that they wouldn’t hand him in.

One user said: “Tell Michael he can come hide in my house”, while another added “Anyone finds him, let me know,” and another urged police: “If you find him, give him my address.”

Just 23 hours after police posted the mugshot, the appeal had garnered 1,400 comments, 306 shares and 434 “reacts”.

Of the reacts, 206 were laughing faces and 36 were heart emojis.

The police appeal yesterday remained active on the force’s social media and website.
