HAD Evan Lloyd not struck the upright with a penalty in the second half the outcome of this game could have been left hanging in the balance for even longer.

The young Dragons outside half would have given his side the lead again had his kick been a few inches to the left. Shortly after replacement prop Ross Jones was shown a yellow card at a collapsed scrum and a penalty try inevitably followed.

That was the end for the Steelmen and a third try at the death put a slightly unfair look to the final scoreline. It means Jason Strange’s side are still seeking that elusive second win of the league campaign.

The first-half was a tight affair with the visitors gaining the upper hand thanks to an early penalty from Lloyd and a try from Dan

Hill midway through. The home side were surprisingly slow out of the blocks, but cut the gap to two points by the break with two penalties from the reliable boot of Dion Jones.

Lloyd hit the target again at the start of the second half, but the visitors began to concede more and more penalties as the pressure began to mount from a more fluent home effort in the second half.

Wing Rhys Tudor was worked over for the first try for the Gogs and the conversion from Jones made it 13-11. Then came the penalty miss from Lloyd and the 10 minute period of playing with 14 men for the visitors.

RGC saw their chance and took it in the end as Jordan Scott powered over in the wake of the penalty try.

RGC: Tries; R Tudor, pen Try, J Scott; Cons: D Jones 2; Pens: D Jones 2.

EBBW VALE: Try: D Hill; Pens: E Lloyd 2
