TV PICKS OF THE WEEK
ENDEAVOUR Tonight, ITV, 8pm
Morse suspects a connection between a woman’s disappearance and her past employer, but another missing persons case demands his attention. This time, it’s a notable artist, whose work adorns the covers of a series of paperback mysteries.
Meanwhile, reports flood in of stolen cars and criminal damage, as a debauched group of university undergraduates wreak havoc.
A murder of a uniformed copper sees Bright command all hands on deck, while, much to Endeavour and Thursday’s annoyance, the cast of TV detective series are in town.
JAMIE’S £1 WONDERS Tomorrow, Channel 4, 8pm
Jamie Oliver’s new series acknowledges many of us are looking to cut costs in the kitchen.
So, not only is he sharing recipes that work out at a pound or less per portion, based on the average cost of the ingredients used, he’s also conscious of the fact that many of us are also trying to keep our energy bills down too, so he’ll be looking at cooking methods that save time and money. However, he won’t be scrimping on taste.
Among the recipes in the first episode is a delicious take on roast chicken that cooks in a fraction of the time, with a cheat’s stuffing that makes the meat stretch further.
FOOD UNWRAPPED’S VEG BOX Tuesday, Channel 4, 8pm
Last week the gang focused on fruit, so it seems only right and fair that this time, they’re turning their attention to vegetables.
Andi Oliver, who can also been seen on Great British Menu on BBC2 at the same time, will be hoping for an eye-opening rather than eye-watering insight into what goes on inside onion factories, where tearinducing peeling happens every day. She also finds out why asparagus has a strange impact on some people, while Amanda Byram discovers what happens to the millions of pumpkins left unwanted after Halloween. Plus, there are investigations into stir-fry shelf life and the heat of radishes.
KATHY BURKE: GROWING UP Wednesday, Channel 4, 10pm
Kathy Burke has fronted a couple of compelling documentaries for Channel 4 – All Woman and All Money. Both tackled tricky subjects, but were enlivened by Burke’s own no-nonsense personality.
That’s at the centre of her new two-part project in which she tries to figure out whether or not to grow old disgracefully.
She’ll be 58 this summer, still a whippersnapper in comparison with some of the people she meets in this first episode, who include an 85-year-old model and a 70-yearold dominatrix.
