RUBY WAX: CAST AWAY Tonight, Channel 5, 9pm

She started out as an actor before turning to comedy, but for the past decade or so Ruby Wax has become better known as a mental health expert. Her interest in the topic stems from her own 25-year battle with depression; now she’s hoping to raise awareness of the topic while stranded on an isolated Madagascan island with only herself to talk to.

BLUE LIGHTS Tomorrow, BBC1, 9pm

It’s the penultimate episode of the gripping police drama, and Mo McIntyre is ready to start digging up an ancient stash of paramilitary weaponry.

His plan is to then trade the arms for drugs, but that may be trickier than he’s expecting as MI5 know what he’s up to and have put him under surveillance.

THE YORKSHIRE VET Tuesday, Channel 5, 8pm

Peter Wright started a new chapter at Grace Lane Vets last year, and tonight we are back with him and his former Skeldale colleague, Julian Norton, as they continue the James Herriot tradition of veterinary practice across ‘God’s Own Country’.

In tonight’s edition, Julian operates on a French Bulldog who has injured one of his three legs. Meanwhile, Peter and Shona Searson have some donkey work to do at the Greens’ farm, and Matt Smith loses a pet snake.

THE MYSTERIOUS MR LAGERFELD

Wednesday, BBC2, 9pm

Having helmed Chanel since 1983, Karl Lagerfeld was one of the fashion industry’s most celebrated designers.

However, it is said not that many people ever really knew the man behind the sunglasses, who lived in Paris with his blue-cream tortie Birman cat Choupette, before his death in February 2019.

In this new film for Arena, director Michael Waldman tracks down Lagerfeld’s inner circle.

The film features extraordinary access to Lagerfeld’s bodyguard, neighbour, doctor and the niece he hadn’t seen for 50 years, as well as some of the people who worked closely with him.

DALGLIESH

Thursday, Channel 5, 9pm

PD James’s crime novels about police detective and poet Adam Dalgliesh have been filmed for TV before.

He’s previously been played by

Roy Marsden and Martin Shaw, and while their performances were perfectly fine, Bertie Carvel’s incarnation is arguably closer to the Dalgliesh of the books; he’s well on the way to making the role his own. The first series went down well with viewers when it aired in
