VINCENT Kompany’s Burnley must wait to be crowned champions after a stunning late goal from QPR substitute Chris Martin inflicted a first home defeat of the season on the Premier Leagueboun­d Clarets.

Rangers stunned Turf Moor on 58 minutes when they took the lead through skipper Sam Field Burnley thought they had at least salvaged a point, on 76 minutes, when Manuel Benson collected a pass on the right wing, cut into the area and curled an unstoppabl­e finish into the far corner of the visitors’ goal.

Wigan kept alive their faint hopes of avoiding relegation with a thrilling 2-1 victory over play-off chasing Millwall at the DW Stadium.

The Latics lead after just 14 minutes through a Will Keane strike but that was cancelled out on the half hour by George Saville.

However, Thelo Aasgaard snatched three much-needed points five minutes from time to leave Wigan four points from safety with just two matches remaining.

Blackpool also gave their survival hopes a shot in the arm with their first away win since October with a 1-0 success at Birmingham.

Substitute Ian Poveda, on loan from Leeds, tapped home the only goal in the 74th minute after a dreadful mix-up between defender Kevin Long and goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

But Rotherham’s survival hopes suffered a blow after substitute Andreas Weimann fired a stoppage-time winner to secure Bristol City a 2-1 victory at Ashton Gate.

The home side took a 15th-minute lead when Cameron Pring delivered a high cross from the left and Tommy Conway rose to notch his 11th goal of the season with a header. Rotherham were level in the 67th minute when Jordan Hugill sent Max O’Leary the wrong way with a penalty.

Gustavo Hamer struck the winner as Coventry moved into the play-off places with a 2-1 home victory over relegation-threatened Reading. Watford’s faint hopes of reaching the play-offs suffered another jolt with a 1-0 defeat at Hull thanks to an Ozan Tufan penalty. Blackburn sit outside the play-off places as a Dominic Hyam own goal gave Preston an injurytime equaliser.
