WRU NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

CROSS Keys ended a run of four successive games without a win as they came from behind to beat Narberth 28-22 at Pandy Park in the Admiral Championship.

Rocked by a salvo of four firsthalf tries from The Otters, and trailing 22-21 at the break, Keys found a way to hit back and win in the second half.

Will Rees and Tom Davies had initially edged the home side into a 14-10 lead, but it took a try from scrum-half Sam Ireland to win it in the end with the only score of the second period.

Neath took full advantage of unbeaten Pontypool’s cup final commitments by joining them on 89 points with a 70-0 midweek win over Maesteg Quins than contained 10 tries, two of them from fireman flanker Fergus Kneath to keep the Welsh

All Blacks well on the road to promotion.

Undaunted by their heavy defeat on the road, the Quins got back on the horse at home four days later to record an impressive 40-26 win over Cardiff Met. It included a spectacular second-half perfomrance with 29 unanswered points with Morgan Roach taking a starring role.

Third-placed Bargoed mixed and matched their team for the trip to Trebanos after just coming up short against Pontypool at home the previous weekend.

They fell behind to a home try, but then responded with six of the best to head home with a bonus-point and a 38-5 victory.

Both wings, Adam Jones and Dai Evans scored and hooker Lewis Lippiett also converted a driving lineout. Centre Duane Dyer also got in on the act, as did Own Cooper and replacement Tom Rice.

Full-back Josh Prosser added four conversions.

Glamorgan Wanderers’ mini-revival after they were beaten 108-12 at Pontypool Park earlier in the month continued as they beat Tata Steel 42-7 to make it back-to-back wins after their 31-15 home triumph over Trebanos.

They have now hauled themselves up to 10th place.

Beddau also came up with an away win as they polished off Ystalyfera 27-10.
