Wales On Sunday

How they rated

- BY TOM COLEMAN

CARL RUSHWORTH

Back to his assured self after a difficult outing against Middlesbrough.

HARRY DARLING

Did reasonably well for much of the evening in terms of his defensive duties, but perhaps could have done more to close down Liam Millar for the Preston goal. Subbed

BEN CABANGO

Competed really well in the air, and looked far more comfortable than previous showings. Some promising signs.

BASHIR HUMPHREYS

Really composed on the ball. Tidy in possession when many of his team-mates struggled to keep the ball, particularly in the first half.

JOSH KEY

Was a decent threat down the right-hand side. Put in a few quality crosses, although his decision-making at key times perhaps let him down. Still, a good performance all in all.

JAY FULTON

Played a few decent passes in the final third, but just gave the ball away far too often and far too easily. Fluffed his lines when handed a great chance in the second half too.

MATT GRIMES (C)

Produced a moment of real quality for the goal, but was actually pretty poor for much of the first half. Kept going, though, and did improve as the game went on. Still not anywhere near his usual best.

JOSH TYMON

Didn’t do an awful lot wrong, but was largely quiet for much of the evening. Subbed.

LIAM WALSH

Showed moments of real promise, but just couldn’t muster the same urgency as last week. Final ball was also lacking Subbed.

JAMAL LOWE

Just couldn’t quite make it happen in the final third. Not entirely his fault as he was left feeding off scraps a lot of the time.

STAR MAN

JAMIE PATERSON

Produced two really good finishes to earn victory for his team.

Showed flashes of intensity when some of his team-mates were guilty of looking sluggish. A strong outing.

SUBSTITUTES

Kyle Naughton (on for Tymon 82) - A quiet outing, but one that didn’t yield too many issues - 5

Liam Cullen (on for Lowe 88) - Came on for an assist. Not too shabby - 6
