How they rated

- BY GLEN WILLIAMS

JAK ALNWICK

Came out and made one punch from a dangerous ball over the top. Made a top save to stop Marvin Johnson’s low shot in the second half. Made a stunning 1v1 save from Bailey Cadamarteri late on, too.

PERRY NG

Committed himself with a sliding intercept and it led to Anthony Mubasa’s goal. Just looked a little less composed than usual at times.

MARK MCGUINNESS

Probably the pick of the back four. Barely put a foot out of place and stayed strong late on when Wednesday threw everything at them.

DIMITRIOS GOUTAS

Another who committed with a big lunge on Mubasa, who rounded him before smashing past Alnwick. Recovered well as the game wore on, though.

JAMILU COLLINS

Had a tough job on his hands against the physical Callum Paterson, who pinned him back and didn’t allow him to drive forward.

MANOLIS SIOPIS

Pushed off the ball a little too often and, again, misplaced too many passes. Wasn’t the game for him and was pulled on 55 minutes.

JOSH BOWLER

Not really at it. His first touch was off and he was dispossessed too many times. Erol Bulut was right to bring him off in the second half.

CALLUM ROBINSON

Another quiet performance and didn’t seem to be on the same wavelength as any of his team-mates. Off just after the break.

KARLAN GRANT

Could count on one hand the number of times he was in a dangerous position with the ball at his feet in the first half, but changed the game when moved into a second striker role. His leveller was beautifully taken.

YAKOU MEITE

Tried to be a nuisance but the ball pinged off him too often. Another up and down display from the Ivorian.

STAR MAN JOE RALLS (C)

Probably City’s best player throughout the whole match. At least tried to move the ball up the pitch and his set-piece delivery was excellent.
