How they rated

- BY GLEN WILLIAMS

ETHAN HORVATH

A couple of iffy moments with the ball at his feet – and when he came rushing out to head a ball clear he did put City in a bit of bother.

PERRY NG

Another top display. Kept Ipswich’s left-hand side quiet for the most part and solid as ever with the ball at his feet.

NAT PHILLIPS

Had a real challenge up against Kieffer Moore but battled with him all afternoon and came out on top. Made a goal-saving challenge on Leif Davis after the break.

DIMITRIOS GOUTAS

Same as Phillips, a real battle and one from which he emerged with credit.

JOSH WILSON-ESBRAND

Arguably his best outing yet. Bombed forward and caused real trouble. The left-back also drilled a low early shot which was blocked.

MANOLIS SIOPIS

Like his midfield partner, another fantastic outing. Needed that dog in midfield and Siopis brought it. Not only did he have bite in his tackle but he played the ball nicely, too. Best game in a while.

JOSH BOWLER

Coming into a bit of form, Bowler. Linked up brilliantly with Turnbull and had two decent shots saved in the first half, one of which Ng was unfortunate not to turn in from the rebound.

DAVID TURNBULL

Like Wilson-Esbrand, arguably his best game. His early, rasping shot really troubled Vaclav Hladky and he showed moments of real class throughout.

KARLAN GRANT

Was a livewire again down City’s left. Had some defensive duties with the rapid Wes Burns causing trouble, but the winger produced his own moments of magic. He skinned two players before rifling one over the bar before the break.

YAKOU MEITE

Cardiff have tried a number of loan frontmen this season, this was arguably the best performance of the lot. Challenged for everything against massive defenders and won free-kicks and got City up the pitch.

STARMAN: RYAN WINTLE

Another really positive outing from the midfielder. Crisp and clinical with his passing, defended like an animal and was there to score the equaliser.

SUBSTITUTES

Rubin Colwill (Turnbull 75) Put in a couple of dangerous crosses, one of which O’Dowda should have scored and the other led to Wintle’s goal. 8

Callum O’Dowda (Meite 75) Missed a gilt-edged chance late on but then scored the one that mattered. A special moment for him after so long out. How Cardiff have missed him. 8

Famara Diedhiou (Bowler 84) Put himself about late on, to be fair. N/A

Joe Ralls (Wintle 90) Swung in the corner which led to O’Dowda’s goal. N/A

IPSWICH TOWN

Hladky, Clarke, Woolfenden, Burgess, Davis, Morsy, Luongo (Taylor 76), Burns (Harness 76), Chaplin (Hutchinson 64), Sarmiento (Broadhead 64), Moore (Al-Hamadi 89).

Subs not used: Walton, Tuanzebe, Travis, Jackson.

REFEREE
