Kelly set for double show tour

-

STEREOPHONICS lead singer Kelly Jones has announced a mini solo tour ahead of the release of his new album.

Kelly, 49, has confirmed he’ll be heading to Cardiff, as well as Birmingham, Glasgow, Manchester and London’s Alexandra Palace Theatre for a dozen “intimate” live shows in May.

The Cwmaman-born superstar will perform two shows a night, including every track from his upcoming album, Inevitable Incredible, which he recorded at a remote studio in Norway.

A spokesperson said: “Following the news of his recently announced solo album, Kelly Jones has today shared details of a five-city May 2024 UK tour, which will see him perform 12 intimate live shows.

“The performances will coincide with the release of his brand-new solo studio album Inevitable Incredible, released on Stylus Records through Ignition Records Ltd on May 3.”

He will perform at The Gate in Cardiff on Monday and Tuesday, May 13 and 14, with shows at both 7pm and 9pm.

Last week, Kelly shared the video for the title track of the album and earlier this month, he told NME he wants to “make music like filmmakers make films”.

Explaining how the album came about, he said: “From around October through to December of 2022 at around 7.30pm after reading my youngest of four children a superhero story, I was drawn to the piano.

“Some melodies would arrive. Melody is magic. There’s nothing, then there’s something. Then the notebook before me would start to get filled with words.

“I’d record them onto my phone. I’d read back the pages of handwritten scribbles, not entirely knowing where the words had come from.

“Then I’d feel emotional. Sometimes even upset. Something had to move through me. One song turned into about 10. Christmas came and went and then I decided I should try and record these somewhere.

“Somewhere quiet and isolated and pretty much alone. I didn’t plan to write an album. It wrote me.”
