Aalto University, Espoo, Finland
Pikku-finlandia (‘Little Finlandia’) is a temporary event venue in Helsinki’s Töölönlahti Bay designed to replace Alvar Aalto’s iconic Finlandia Hall while it is renovated. Due for completion soon, it started out as a student competition at Aalto University’s School of Arts, Design and Architecture, but was eventually developed as part of a three-part graduation thesis by Jaakko Torvinen and Elli Hirvonen. Both graduates now work as architects in Helsinki. Dream collaborators: Kunlé Adeyemi, Francis Kéré. jaakkotorvinen.com
