19. HORACE PAGE
Central Saint Martins, London, UK
London-born Page drew on the symbolism of the countryside and the city, repurposing garments associated with the outdoor pursuits of the upper class (such as 18th-century military dress and hunting attire) for the street. The formal becomes informal, taking on a new ease: wool suiting is boiled to remove structure, tweed is sliced open and knitwear peeks out from under nylon. ‘I wanted to see clothes associated with tradition be appropriated by casual wear,’ says Page.
