MICKALENE THOMAS
Artist
Thomas kicked off the new year with the release of her first monograph. A poetic deep dive into the New York-based artist’s incredibly varied body of work, the selftitled tome draws from an equally wide range of influences to form an empowering and complex portrait of Black identity, beauty and sexuality, which she has refined over the last two decades. Thomas shares her recipe for duck with chimichurri, an adaptation of Ferran Adrià’s version, for our Artist’s Palate series (page 138).
