WILD PUB WALKS

These walks combine Britain’s wildest landscapes with the best finish possible – a pint in a cosy pub

-

1 Kinder Scout from Hayfield, Peak District Delightful Hayfield is the perfect base (and watering hole) for the circular walk around the moorland of Kinder Scout, veined with streams and studded with impressive gritstone outcrops.

2 Coniston circular, Lake District Absorb one of England’s finest views as you summit the Old Man of Coniston (803m), glimpsing the dark ripples of Coniston Water and the scars of its mining past. Finish in the titular village below, supping in one its country inns.

3 Malham to Settle, Yorkshire Dales This hike has everything: limestone-strewn moorland, thunderous waterfalls and glacier-carved chasms. Toast the raw beauty of the Yorkshire Dales among the pubs of Malham and Settle, which boast a fine selection of beers.

4 Lochnagar, Scottish Highlands Tread a slice of the spectacular Scottish Highlands, spying the craggy peaks and wooded pockets that dominate these wilds. Rest up in Ballater with a pint in hand and a reflective cheek-to-cheek grin.

5 Cadair Idris, Snowdonia National Park Blaze a trail up the monster Cadair Idris (893m) and its Ice Age-carved ridges, sloping down the Pony Path on your descent and refuelling your weary legs with one (or four) tipples on a brewery tour.
