With Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody out in cinemas from 24 October, the spotlight is set to turn on Freddie Mercury’s birthplace of Zanzibar. These Tanzanian islands are on the up, with a host of ritzy new hotel openings – but worry not, the archipelag­o’s newfound fame hasn’t gone to its head. It’s still all about spotting dolphins off the coast, wandering the maze that is Stone Town and sampling spicy Zanzibari food, with its Indian, Arab, Chinese, Portuguese and African influences.
