Day 2
Make your way to St Ives and visit the Barbara Hepworth Museum
and Sculpture Garden ( pictured; tate.org.uk). This Tate-run institution was once home to the famous artist, and has been left more or less untouched since her death in 1975. Go a little inland and you’ll see
Leach Pottery (leachpottery.com). Founded in 1920, this working ceramics studio is home to a good museum as well as a shop selling world-class handmade pottery.
Carbis Bay is without doubt one of the UK’S most beautiful beaches, and its luminescent sands need to be seen to be believed. Take the path from St Ives along the coast where the beach opens out before you and you’ll find everything you need, including the Carbis Bay Hotel. Finish up with a table at Alba (alba-stives.co.uk), an old lifeboat house now serving up Michelinstandard food and sterling views.
