Chile’s hot topic

It started with a dream to create an epic road trip route through Chile, connecting its sensational national parks while also protecting them for the future. And finally, after 40 years, the Patagonian Route of Parks is open: a 2,800km trail through 17 parks, traversing rainforests, mountains and glaciers from Puerto Montt down to Cape Horn. The route was the vision of late US billionaire Douglas Tompkins (founder of The North Face) and his wife, Kristine, devoted conservationists who donated vast amounts of land to Chile’s government in order get the project off the ground.
