Journey journals
I recently put together a photo book of shared worldwide adventures for a friend’s 60th. We started travelling together in 1989 so there were many photographs to browse; lockdown afforded me the many hours this took. Reading the travel journals I kept instantly took me back to the memories that I would otherwise not have been able to recall.
I am so glad that I took time to write these journals as I was able to accompany many of the photos with an original narrative. I particularly enjoyed recounting our experience of the Trans-siberian railway in 1998. I wonder how this trip would differ now. I love to look at travel photos, whoever they belong to, but the power of the written word cannot be underestimated and I would always recommend keeping a travel journal.
