Coven­try MP has un­der­gone heart surgery

COVEN­TRY MP Ge­of­frey Robin­son has re­vealed he has un­der­gone heart surgery.

The Labour MP for Coven­try North West made the an­nounce­ment on his of­fi­cial Twit­ter page on Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon.

He de­scribed the op­er­a­tion as “mi­nor” and thanked every­one who has sent him mes­sages of love and sup­port.

Mr Robin­son was voted in as an MP in March 1976 and has re­mained as one of Coven­try’s voice pieces in the House of Com­mons ever since.

The 80-year-old is the fourth long­est serv­ing MP in the House, only be­hind Ken­neth Clarke, Den­nis Skin­ner and Sir Peter Bot­tom­ley.

Mr Robin­son also has a long re­la­tion­ship with Coven­try City FC hav­ing been on the board of di­rec­tors and also tak­ing on the role of chair­man from 2005 to 2007.
