Per­form a clean Win­dows 10 in­stal­la­tion

1 As­sum­ing you’re in­stalling Win­dows 10 from a USB flash drive cre­ated us­ing the Me­dia Cre­ation Tool, you’ll need to insert the drive into a spare port and boot from it. The setup screen will load. Se­lect the lan­guage, time and cur­rency for­mat, and key­board or other in­put method. 1 Click Next. 2

2 Click the In­stall Now but­ton. If you have a prod­uct key, enter it. If you don’t, but your PC was run­ning an ac­ti­vated ver­sion of Win­dows, you can se­lect ‘I don’t have a prod­uct key’. Se­lect your ver­sion of Win­dows and agree to the li­cence terms. Click the op­tion ‘Cus­tom: In­stall Win­dows only (ad­vanced)’. 1

3 If Win­dows is in­stalled, se­lect the par­ti­tion it’s on and click Delete. 1 Se­lect the empty drive (Drive 0 Un­al­lo­cated Space) 2 and click Next. 3 This step is the same even if you have a blank drive. The in­staller will wipe the drive and per­form a clean in­stal­la­tion. You can now get Win­dows set up how you want it.
