Fundraising night in memory of hero Jak

Show at the Regal

- Debbie Hall

The countdown has begun to this year’s biggest all singing and all dancing fundraising concert.

With appearances from Star Harmoneez Musical Theatre School, The Liv’n Harmony Singers, Bankton Primary School Choir and pupils from West Calder High School the event is sure to be a hit with audiences.

The show takes place at 7pm on June 11 at Bathgate Regal Community Theatre to celebrate the life of Jak Trueman who lost his fight for life last year and to raise much needed funds for the Team Jak Foundation. Jak left an incredible legacy after passing away in February 2015 after a battle with a rare and aggressive form of cancer, Gamma Delta T-Cell Lymphoma.

Before he died he set up Team Jak Foundation with his mum and sister and managed to raise £290,000 which helped build his dream respite centre, Jak’s Den, for young cancer patients and those with other life-limiting illnesses and their families.

Jak wanted somewhere they could go to relax and feel welcome in a safe environment and get access to help, advice and ongoing support and the charity has taken on his mantle and are hoping to increase this figure to £500,000 by February 2017, to be able to help even more families at the Den.

Mum Allison Barr said: “It’s really important for us to celebrate the great life Jak had, which we were lucky enough to be part of but also to help raise money for people going through the pain that we experienced and we know that at a time like that as much support and help as possible is needed.

“Already we’ve received a great deal of interest in the show which I am confident will be a huge success.”

Tickets cost £ 10 and are available from Regal Box Office by calling 01506 630085.
