Local trio on a 26m Clyde trip

-

A trio of Lothian RC members took part in the Glasgow Clyde Marathon at the weekend. Paul Young finished in 35th place with Linda Garratty in 63rd and eighth female. Kirsty McMeechan came home in 148th overall.

Elsewhere, the club’s Lana Turnbull won the female category of the Livingston parkrun on Saturday morning for the 15th time. She placed 22nd overall with Iain Horsburgh (12th place) being the top LRC runner.

The club’s junior members were in action at the Livingston Open meeting at Craigswood Stadium last week with Sorley McDonald (under-11s 150m and long jump) and Andrew Jackson (under-11s 200m) recording new personal bests.

John Malcolm contested the Ochils 2000s Hill Race, which is part of the Long Classics Series. John finished the 18-mile course in 3:52.41 to finish in 17th position.

As a warm-up to the forthcoming cross-country season, Lothian Running Club will be organising a series of fun, informal cross-country races for junior athletes, with the aim of providing an accessible introduction to crosscountry running. Athletes from other local clubs are welcome to take part.

The races will be held at Dechmont Law on September 7 and 14.

Each event will consist of two races for different age groups. A 1.5km race for under-11s at 6.30pm and 2.5km event for over 11s at 6.50pm.
