Getting the best from your most important asset: staff
The Chamber has been involved in many different programmes, including the recent Erasmus and Developing Young Workforce projects, to support employability in our area.
Right now we are looking at how so we can help businesses manage their most important assets – their staff – deal with employability law and refine the recruitment process to ensure the right candidate is picked for the job.
Employability is an increasingly important topic to be covered to ensure businesses can stay within changing legislation and use it as a way to increase the success of the business.
The Chamber has created events to help businesses deal with these issues.
A Lunch and Learn event focusing on HR will take place on November 8 and this will be delivered by Ian Pilbeam of The HR Dept at the Hilcroft Hotel, Whitburn. Ian will share his expertise, focusing on how businesses can recruit people who are right for the job and who will also fit in with the company’s values and ethos.
November also sees the start of the Chamber’s employability breakfast briefings, which will run monthly until March, focusing on relevant topics starting with ‘Brexit and Your Employees’, an essential employment law update on November 24.
The entire series will be delivered by Eversheds, who regularly host employability training sessions and greatly discounts rate.
All the events mentioned will give straightforward, direct and practical guidance on the chosen topic to ensure your time is well spent by attending.
