Please note the change of date for this month only. There will not be a meeting tonight,13th April. Community Council meetings are now held in the Auld School, School Lane, on the second Thursday of the month at 7.45pm. All interested parties welcome Mid Calder Bowling Club Opening Day will be Saturday 22nd April, 1.30pm for 2pm. There will be a free cabaret that night starring Beodette Clark. There will also be a raffle and food will be provided. Mid Calder Community Council are delighted to announce that there will be a Junior Citizen of the Year for Mid Calder along with our Senior Citizen of the Year. The criteria for the Junior Citizen is as follows: They must be a resident of Mid Calder and be under 18 years old. Do you know anyone who deserves this award? Is there someone you know who is raising a lot of money for charity? Is there anyone who gives up their time freely to help others? Nomination­s for both Senior and Junior Citizen should be made in writing to Eleanor Blair, Community Council Secretary by Thursday 11th May 2017. The winner of the Junior Citizen will receive The Billy Preston Shield along with a Gift Voucher and the Senior will receive the Ian Ross memorial Quaich. Mid Calder Colts Soccer School are looking for players born in 2010 and 2011 to join the soccer school. Scottish Blood Donor Transfusio­n Service would like to thank everyone who attended the recent blood donor session in Mid Calder Primary. A total of 148 volunteers offered to give blood and 135 donations were given. There were 14 new donors. Thanks to everyone, particular­ly new donors whom they hope will continue to give blood regularly. Annual Sportsman’s Dinner hosted by Mid Calder Gala Committee will be held in the Masonic Hall, Mid Calder on Saturday April 29th at 7pm for 7.30pm. Guest Speakers are Jim Leishman and David Tanner with M.C. Kevin Kaye. Come along and help us to promote fair trade and make new friends. The Fair Trade café is run by the Kirk of Calder. Clothing bank is situated to the front of the Glenalmond Hall. Please bring any good quality clean clothes, belts, paired shoes, ties, handbags (in a bag) and place in the recycling bank.
