Artist set to exhibit work in Linlithgow

-

Art lovers can enjoy a special exhibition at Linlithgow Burgh Halls this spring and summer.

Jennie Tuffs: Energy, Light, Colour - 40 Years of Painting, explores the work of the West Lothian-based artist.

She is known for her vibrant paintings of flowers and nature, her work is best known to millions through the posters she has produced for Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and London Underground.

Since the sixties, her work has been regularly exhibited nationally and is held in public and private collections worldwide. Jennie Tuffs’work is a dynamic balance between representation and abstraction. Tuffs’ primary medium, liquid acrylic, is chosen to reflect the flowers’own mercurial energy and light. Now living in West Lothian, her work over recent years has shifted in focus from plants to place-stepping back to reveal woodland, water and the wider environment. This exhibition focuses on work from the last three years and includes landscapes and subjects inspired by international travel, as well as a selection of older pieces from the last four decades. It will run from Friday, April 21, until Sunday, July 16. Free entry.

A related event will also be held at Linlithgow Burgh Halls next month.

There will be an artist talk and gallery tour with Jennie Tuffs on Thursday, May 25. Join Jennie as she takes us through her encounters with her chosen medium - liquid acrylic, with its challenging fluid sensuality and immediacy. The event will take place from 7pm to 9pm and is suitable for ages 14+. It is free but booking is essential.
