Broxburn Athletics 1-0 loss at home to Linlithgow Rose was a disappointing result for a club nine places against a Rose side who are struggling for form this season.

Broxburn came into the all West Lothian game in a rich vein of form having won their last three games while Rose have lost their last two games, inluding getting knocked out the EOS Cup by Bo’ness on penalties.

But as is so often the case in football form stood for nothing as Rose struck 17 minutes from time to make sure the points went back to Linlithgow in this West Lothian derby.

The three points for Linlithgow lifts them above Jeanfield Swifts and Musselburgh in the Superleague while Dundonald Bluebell move above Broxburn.

Broxburn’s next game in the Superleague is another all West Lothian clash against Fauldhouse United who stay rooted at the bottom of the division following a 3- 1 defeat at home to Camelon.

In Premier League action Bathgate Thistle got a decent draw away from home to Haddington Athletic who stay one point and one place behind them in the league.

Thistle’s goals were scored by Darren Dalrymple and Robbie Feeney.

It was a bad weekend however for both Whitburn and Armadale who both lost 1-0, results that keep them both in the bottom three.

Whitburn were beaten 1-0 at home by Forfar (report below) while Armadale lost to Sauchie away in a spirited performance.

It took title contenders Sauchie 70mins to find the net against relegation threatened Armadale with Brian Morgan converting a penalty given against Gary Brown.

The home side had the best of the first half possession but failed to trouble Rooney in the Armadale goal.

The best effort at goal came just before the interval when an Armadale effort was saved low at the post.

But both teams were unable to break the deadlock at the teams went in all square at half-time.

In the second half Armadale grew in confidence and began to cause problems to the Sauchie defence.

However the West Lothian side went a goal down when the referee awarded a penalty for an alleged pull by Brown.

The Dale were unlucky not to equalize and left with nothing to show for a much improved performance.
