STREET STYLE SUMMER FASHION

Looking good for the holiday season

- Marjorie Kerr

With lighter nights and longer days, as well as the prospect of an upcoming holiday or staycation – shoppers at The Centre in Livingston have been indulging in the hottest trends and adding a few exciting new additions to their summer wardrobes.

When the Street Style Squad visited The Centre to check out shoppers’ latest purchases they were treated to an array of chic offerings.

This month, six stylish shoppers were selected to share their fabulous new purchases in return for a Gift Card worth £ 25, courtesy of The Centre, which can be used in over 80 stores and all restaurants.

All six pictures will appear on ‘Shop The Centre’ Facebook page today ( Thursday, July 27) and the picture which receives the most likes over a period of 48 hours will receive another £100 Gift Card from The Centre.

Our first stylish shopper was Lauren Baillie ( 27) a beauty consultant from Edinburgh.

Lauren had visited The Centre to look for some shoes for her daughter Ryleigh when she spotted a chic slogan tee in Topshop.

Lauren said: “I always enjoy visiting The Centre – I’ll quite often stop for a coffee in between shops just to watch the world go by.

“I love the Topshop T-shirt – it’s great quality and so versatile, you really can dress it up or down to suit your mood.”

Next up on our style radar was 26-year-old painter and decorator, George Arthur from Broxburn.

George had visited The Centre with a friend and managed to pick up a pair of jeans from Topman and a bottle of Versace The Dreamer eau de toilette from The Perfume Shop.

He said: “The Centre has such a great range of brands – I usually go to JD Sports or Schuh for trainers and Xile clothing for casualwear.

“The eau de toilette I bought is a bit of a nostalgic purchase – I used to wear it years ago and couldn’t resist getting it again.”

Our next shopper with a passion for fashion was Leanne Allan, a 34-yearold teacher from Polmont, who was visiting The Centre with her fiancé.

When the Street Style Squad caught up with her, Leanne had just purchased a pair of embroidered ballet pumps from Topshop in one of the hottest colours – blush pink.

Leanne said: “I loved the embroidery detailing and they’re perfect to wear with skinny jeans and a blazer. Topshop is always on my list of shops to visit when I’m in The Centre, along with River Island.

“I really like the ruffle trend this summer so I’m keeping my eye out for an extra wardrobe update or two.”

Our next lucky shopper was Jade Kettles (26) a deputy store manager from Milnathort.

Jade was browsing the shops with her mum Susan and little boy Harrison and had just invested in a couple of items to revamp her makeup bag for the summer.

Jade said: “When we come to The Centre we like to make a day of it – browse the great selection of shops and stop for food along the way.

“We’ve just been to Debenhams where I got a new Estée Lauder Foundation and a Benefit Bronzer, then we’re off to Swarovski and New Look to see if anything else catches our eye.”

The Street Style Squad couldn’t resist checking out the purchases of Hazel Graham (50), from Eliburn.

Hazel, a receptionist at Craigshill Health Centre, had popped into The Centre with her friend Donna for an afternoon of retail therapy.

She had just been to River Island where she’d bought a metallic blue pleated dress and a c ro pp e d gingham top wi t h ruffle detailing.

Hazel said: “I’d probably wear the gingham top with a pair of white jeans or shorts – perfect for summer and holidays. We’ve been to quite a few shops already so our next stop is for coffee before we head along to Next to see what they have to offer.”

The final person to catch our Style Squad’s eye was Euan Begbie, a 37- year- old gas engineer from Polmont, who was shopping with his fiancee.

Euan had just bought a stylish pair of New Balance 373 trainers from Schuh.

The suede trainers combine a classic heritage style and timeless look with lightweight comfort.

Euan said: “We’ve just had lunch at Nando’s and a good look around the shops. I’m really pleased with the trainers I got from Schuh – they’re just what we came down to The Centre to look for, so it’s been a really successful shopping trip.”

Ashley Bisland, deputy centre director at The Centre, said: “At this time of year lots of our visitors are
