Young guns go for it with Kirkcaldy
Livingston Rugby Football Club took a break from the Galant Mitsubishi conference as their under- 15 and 16 sides joined forces to face a composite U-15/16 team from Kirkcaldy.
Although their opponents were a more physical side, they were no match for Livi’s disciplined structure as they took the lead from the onset and never looked back.
Head coach Ga r y Murchison was full of praise for his team after they sealed an emphatic 64-15 triumph.
He commented: “The team worked well on their defensive and attacking structure with all the players contributing to the end result.
“They kept their focus, discipline and gameplay throughout the match.”
Tries from Ewan Steel (four), Josef Lejkowsi (two), Alistair Danskin, Andrew Murchison, Angus Paterson and Cameron Hunter geared the team to a fine win.
Paterson (five), Steel and Kayne MacAulay added conversions.
Elsewhere, West Lothian Girls, an under-15 team that is a joint venture between Livingston and Linlithgow, were up against a strong Auchterarder.
Despite a 50-12 loss, team manager Julie Steel was proud of her players, saying: “There was plenty of good handling skills on display.
“All in all it was a great learning experience for our girls, and most importantly, they enjoyed playing at Almond Park again”.
