East Calder’s Denise Bird was in stunning form in county action against Scotland North.

Her impressive performance on the day helped her seal the Lady of the Match award as she swept to a 3-0 clean sweep.

She was ably assisted by team-mate Irene McInness of Armadale who also helped her sides cause with a 3-0 triumph, but there was a narrow 2- 1 defeat for Michelle McLay in the Ladies B event.

William Borland was in typical impressive display for the Men’s A team, firing in a 30+ average, but he was outdone by Ian Jolly of Angus.

Other performances of note saw Jim Mitchell grab a 4-0 victory while Kieran Bird and Graeme Bird Snr. lost out in their matches 3-1 and 4-2 respectively.

It was yet another busy week of darts action in the local scene which kicked-off with the usual culprits making their way to the capital to the Murrayfield Sports Bar for Edinburgh League fixtures.

William Borland fired in five legs of 20 darts or fewer to coast to an 8-2 victory while there was an 8-0 clean sweep for Armadale’s Scott Baillie.

Graeme Bird hit a maximum 180 and a fine 123 game-shot on his way to an 8-5 victory while Rab Dick sealed a 7-2 win in the Gold League.

However, performance of the night must go to Jim Mitchell as he outfought both of his opponents despite being severely tested, winning his two games 8-5 and 8-6.

Kirknewton Innkeepers hosted Old Wine from Shotts in the Bathgate Friday Night league and grabbed a hard-fought two points thanks to a 6-3 win.

Coppies A did a number on Lammies A with an excellent 7-2 win which included a clean sweep in the doubles.

The Grand Central Railroaders are now the only undefeated team in both divisions in the West Calder and District Darts League after they scored a stunning 9-0 clean sweep victory over the Doo Club Fanciers to keep their place atop the Championship League.
