Youngsters shine during busy week

It was a busy weekend for Livingston RFC’s youth teams as they battled Whitecraig­s as part of the Galant Mitsubishi Conference.

The under-18 side fought hard right until the end but were outdone 34-24 although the positive performanc­e gave the coaching team plenty to be happy with as the team continue to progress. Jamie McGrotty, Kyle Steel and Alex Bruce scored Livi’s tries.

The under-16 outfit never appeared under pressure and eased to a 43-5 victory with tries from Andrew Brown, Adam Martin, Henry Forehand and Andrew Murchison.

Aaron Gregory was the star of the show for the under-15s as his five tries helped his team win 64-9.

Jose Antonios (two), Jamie Russell and Jamie Morrow also scored while Cammy Philp (four) and Kayne MacAulay (three) added conversion­s.

Under-13 coach Keith Hill said his team’s fresh legs proved the difference in a stunning second half as they stormed to victory, grabbing 10 tries and eight conversion­s in the process.

Ross Morrison (five), Jamie Wilson (two), Matt Hill, Ryan Boyd and Fraser Worrall grabbed the tries with Boyd also adding two conversion­s to his name in a fine win.

Isaac Hain (three), Ben Philp (two) and Wilson also kicked two-pointers for Livi.
