Fightback earns victory

- Dunbar United ........ 3 Fauldhouse Utd ...... 4

Fauldhouse United kept their grip on a Premier League promotion place with a thrilling come from behind win away at Dunbar United.

The visitors had the better of the early stages and could already have been in front when Jamie McLeod turned home a Sammy Watson cross in the sixth minute.

Dean Currie had earlier seen his header cleared off the line as the Hoose showed they meant business.

Matthew Bennett tapped the ball into the empty net on 19 minutes after Dunbar goalie John Johnstone saw his attempted clearance blocked.

At that point it appeared to be an easy three points for the visitors but Dunbar upped their game and were able to reduce the gap on 26 minutes as Chris King slotted home from the spot.

The goal had been coming as JC Hutchison in the Fauldhouse goal had produced a couple of smart saves.

He was called into action on a regular basis for the rest of the match and his efforts ensured the Hoose were in a position to seal their late victory.

Despite a fine display, he could do nothing about Dean Ballantyne’s leveller just before the break while Darren Handling’s powerful header gave the hosts the lead early in the second half.

Their lead would only last seven minutes as Jon Connolly’s men drew level through David Dunn before Kevin Motion was dismissed for the Seasiders.

That gave Fauldhouse all of the momentum heading into the final stages and they made it count as Dean Arrol stroked home a dramatic winner in injury-time.
