HAVE A SAY ON HOW COUNCIL SPEND CASH

-

Time is running out to have your say on how West Lothian Council should spend its cash.

A public consultation closes on sunday for locals to put their views across on possible council tax rises and a large number of budget proposals.

Some £73million needs to be cut from the budget over the next five years, which comes on top of £92m saved since 2007/08.

Over 75 per cent of the council’s funding comes from the Scottish Government and it is expected that this funding will be cut over the next five years.

A council spokesperson said: “It is now extremely difficult to make changes without impacting upon services that local people have become accustomed to and many services will have to change or stop altogether.”

The consultation was launched on Monday, october 16 and is called transforming Your Council. Visit www.westlothian.gov.uk/transforming.
