I had no problem with red

-

Livingston boss David Hopkin admitted he had no complaints about referee Greg Aitken’s decision to send Shaun Byrne off after the midfielder was shown two yellow cards in the space of six minutes in the second half.

The dismissal will see him miss this Saturday’s clash with Falkirk, while captain Craig Halkett is set to miss the trip to Dumbarton on March 31 after he picked up his sixth yellow card of the league campaign.

Hopkin said:“I think the referee has made the right call to be honest. I just think it was two lazy challenges from Shaun.

“If you’re going to play in the centre of midfield, you need to be switched on all the time in every game and that’s not what’s happened.

“I was going to take Shaun off just before he got his second yellow so that was a blow and I had to change my substitutions, but fair play to the players because they gave me everything.

“They all dug in after the red card and we’ve taken what looked like being an unlikely point.”

He added:“You have to take your hat off to the guys for the way they dug in after the red card. We had Jordan Thompson running about with cramp for the last 15 minutes and could hardly move so you’re really playing with eight outfielders at that point.

“We’re now unbeaten in eight games and that was the aim coming into the match so I’m happy with that.”
