The Team Jak Foundation urgently needs people in West Lothian to help it win a prestigious award - and time is running out to vote.

The charity has been nominated in the SCVO Scottish Charity Awards 2018 in the Charity of the Year category, with the awards ceremony set to take place in Edinburgh on June 14.

And in addition to the Charity of the Year category, Team Jak is has also received a nomination in the People’s Choice Award category - but members of the public only have until tomorrow (Friday, May 18) to cast their vote.

Allison Barr, CEO of the Team Jak Foundation said: “The Team Jak Foundation are delighted to share that we have been nominated in the prestigious SCVO Scottish Charity Awards 2018.

“We are humbled to have been nominated in the Charity of the Year category.

“In addition to this we are nominees in the People’s Choice Award category and this is a public vote.

“We would be delighted if you could take a moment to register your vote for Team Jak Foundation and help us to win this amazing award.

“You only get one vote - so make it count for Team Jak.

“There are 40 amazing charities in this category and so every vote makes a difference so share our page with your friends and family too.”

Allison set up the Team Jak Foundation to help children suffering for serious illness following the death of her teenage son Jak.

She opened Jak’s Den in Livingston in December 2015 providing emotional, social and practical support to children and young people age 0-25 from all over Scotland who have been diagnosed with cancer, a related illness and their families and friends or who have sadly been bereaved.

The facility was Jak’s dream. The teenager passed away after a brave battle with rare cancer Gama Delta T-Cell Lymphoma aged 15 in 2015.

Allison continued: “Team Jak have big plans this year to open the new Jak’s Den Mark 2 in Livingston, allowing us to continue to provide a supportive and welcoming environment to all of the children and young people and their families affected by cancer and other related illnesses who visit us.

“We really couldn’t do this without your ongoing support and so I want to take the opportunity to say a big thank you to all of our supporters - it means the world to us.”
