Help school’s bid for garden cash

Vote for Cedarbank to win magical makeover

West Lothian Courier - - Courier View - Marjorie Kerr

A West Lothian school hopes to transform the lives of children with additional support needs - and your vote could make the difference.

West Lothian resident Diane Masterson has entered MyBuilder’s Magical Garden Makeover competition to win a garden transformation for Cedarbank School in Livingston, where she works.

Now she needs your votes to get the professionals in.

My B u i l d e r. c o m , the leading online ma r k e t p l a c e for homeowners to find quality tradesmen, is looking for the worthiest winner of a Magical Garden Makeover, with the prize of a total garden transformation up for grabs.

This year, MyBuilder is working with Dobbies Garden Centres to help bring the winner’s garden to life by filling it with beautiful plants and flowers.

Over 1500 homeowners from all over the UK have shared their stories of garden woes, telling MyBuilder what winning the prize would mean to them.

Members of the public have already cast over 30,000 votes so far - and Livingston resident Diane explained what winning the prize would mean for her school.

She said: “I work in the most amazing school with the most amazing headteacher, staff and pupils who are always looking for ways to enhance and enrich the education of our S1, S2 and S3 pupils.

“All of our pupils have a range of additional support needs, many of them are on the autistic spectrum and every one of them is a much-valued individual in our school.

“Gardening is a huge means of allowing pupils to follow instructions, carry out tasks, to nurture, to plan, to agree and disagree but to work as a team, to socialise and so on.

“The area of the school where pupils usually spend their breaks is shouting out to be converted into so much more - but we need a big help here.

“Break times can essential to safely let off steam, but can also be a little stressful for many of our young people as they can have to try harder to navigate some of the barriers they experience in daily life.

“We would love the creation of garden spaces that provide a range of sensory stimulus and relaxation for everyone. Winning this competition would make a world of difference to us.”

You can vote for Diane and her school to win the prize until May 20 atbuilder. com/ competitions/ garden-makeover-2018/ entries/12760
