Students’story is recognised
Simply Play has been honoured for a student- written story about its great work.
The charity - which provides out- of- care services around the county - has been honoured for the piece about its positive and profitable business innovation.
The global educational initiative AIM2Flourish awarded Simply Play with a 2018 Flourish Prize for the short story.
Under the direction of Dr Alec Wersun, from Glasgow School for Business and Society (GSBS), student authors Andrew McKegney, Andrew Benson, Cristian Buhus, Jordan Dalzell and Scott Garvie wrote the winning story called ‘Innovation in Childcare Services’.
The story showcases a positive and profitable innovation at Simply Play.
Raymond Branton, CEO of Simply Play, said: “Everyone at Simply Play is delighted to have been awarded this prize.

“We are all proud of what we have achieved so far and have ambitious plans to keep developing our people and our services, to lead the way as a successful social enterprise.”
Dr Wersun added: “Aim2Flourish offers university business school educators an innovative way of connecting the local with the global, and shining a spotlight on the often overlooked contribution that small and medium sized businesses and social enterprises make to our economy and communities.
“Si m p l y P l ay is a great example of social innovation.” S i m p l y P l a y was established in 2010 by Family and Community Development Wes t Lothian, as a social enterprise and a charity.
The innovations of this service included changing the delivery model to a single, professional structure and developing a unique booking system to give parents maximum flexibility and convenience.
AIM2Flourish is the world’s first highereducation curriculum, story platform and prize for the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals, or Global Goals.
The program is an initiative of the Fowler Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit at the Weatherhead School of Management— Case Western Reserve University.
The students’ story is among 17 winning stories for 2018 come from 16 projects, across nine countries and represent positive and profitable business innovations across the globe. A distinguished jury selected the 17 Flourish Prize winners, one for each Global Goal, from the 504 positive business innovation stories published on AIM2Flourish.com.
