Six-shooters Murieston down Stenny
In the Scottish Women’s Football League Two Central, Murieston played host to Stenhousemuir in what looked set to be a tight rematch of last month’s dramatic League Cup tie – but it was to be a far more comfortable affair this time for the home side.
A performance marked by high-tempo passing and pressing ensured that the home side ran out firm victors at Bankton Mains, with 6-2 the final score in the mid-table clash.
The result takes Murieston four points clear of their opponents, only behind sixth-place Hamilton Academical on goal difference. East Kilbride visit this Sunday.
Blackburn United may not have had the perfect start to their SWFL 1 South season but they can be more than proud of Sunday’s spirited efforts against second-placed Rangers Development.
After matching Rangers for the full 90 minutes, a heartbreaking winner in the sixth minute of injury time consigned Blackburn to a 5-4 defeat.
There were plenty of positives for coach Connor McCloskey to build on however, as his side now take a two week break before visiting Boroughmuir Thistle in what is shaping up to be a key clash for both sides.
They have shown they can mix it with most teams in the division and will be targeting a victory.
